Matthew Weiner, MD
Dr. Weiner has always been interested in two things: medicine and computers. As an assistant professor at the Wayne State University School of Medicine, he is able to explore both of his interests. Dr. Weiner is a very active laparoscopic surgeon who specializes in bariatric surgery as well as the implementation of new technologies (like the Lap-Band) in the operating room. Dr. Weiner went to the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor for both undergraduate and medical school and did his surgical training at New York University. He returned back to his home city of Detroit for his practice and is happy to be a member of the Great Lakes Weight Loss team. Dr. Weiner belongs to several surgical societies and is an active researcher in the field of surgical simulation. On the days that you don't find him in the operating room, he is working in the surgical simulator lab developing new techniques of training surgical residents how to operate using only computers! Dr. Weiner is a devoted family man who spends what little free time he has with his wife and two daughters. |
