If you decide to proceed with the Self Pay Lap-Band and assuming that you do not have any medical issues that require further evaluation or treatment, there will likely be no problem in scheduling your surgery in the near future. The importance of meeting your surgeon prior to scheduling an operative date cannot be overstated. This will give you the opportunity to have all your questions answered by the surgeons and staff who will be taking care of you. In many instances the meeting can be a day or two before the operation. The cost is $10,700 for the pre-operative evaluation, the surgery , and all post-operative visits within 90 days (including all band adjustments). Most people require between 4-6 post-operative adjustments during the first year to get their band set properly. After the first year, 1-2 more adjustments will may be needed over the next several years. The cost of each adjustment (after the first one) is $150. For your pre-operative visit, if you have insurance, we will accept it (if you need a referral from your primary care doctor, you must get one beforehand). If your insurance will not cover the cost of the office visit, the self-pay price is $250, which can be applied to the cost of the surgery if you proceed. So assuming that you are paying for the entire thing, your average cost would be: $250 for the pre-operative visit $10,450 for the surgery ($10,700 minus the $250 from the pre-op visit) $150 x 3 postoperative visits Total: $11,150, including all the necessary adjustments. This price includes everything - there are no additional costs for anesthesia or hospital stay. Our office staff can provide you with more details regarding your financing options.
